SLM participated in the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department’s Trail of Lights on Saturday, December 12th.  We had such a great night!  Almost 50 people from the Shared Lutheran Ministry joined us in sharing the Good News of the birth of Christ.   It was a great chance for us to share the stories of faith we all know and love, with our community.

In addition to regular visits by a pastor, homebound members receive Holy Communion from worship on the first Sunday of the month. This tradition dates back to the earliest Christian worships. Trained Home Communion Visitors take bread and wine blessed in worship to homebound members, and thus we share with them our unity in Christ and Christ’s true presence in the bread and wine. To serve as a Home Communion Visitor or to arrange for home communion, please contact the Shared Ministry Office.

Every Sunday afternoon, a congregation in the La Grange area hosts worship services at the La Grange nursing homes. The Shared Lutheran Ministry is scheduled to host these worship services once each quarter. Worship begins at 3:30 p.m. at Care Inn Nursing Center and at 4:15 p.m. at Monument Hill Nursing Center.

On the second Tuesday of each month, one of the Lutheran (ELCA) congregations in the La Grange area hosts a worship service with Holy Communion at the nursing homes and Jefferson Place Assisted Living Center. The Shared Lutheran Ministry is scheduled to host these worship services once each quarter also. You are welcome at these worships. Your presence will be a ministry to residents. And, most volunteers who come to these worship services thoroughly enjoy it and consider it a ministry to themselves as well.
